Compiled below is a list of our most frequently asked questions, along with the answers, regarding back to school information. More information will be provided to you at your child’s open house (dates below). If you have more questions that aren’t listed here, please call us at 231-788-7100.
A: The first day of school is a late start day, Tuesday, September 3, 2019. We’re excited to seeing you then!
A: To accommodate busy schedules, we have set up many different ways for parents to register! Our new registration this year is streamlined and 100% paperless, so all registration will be done online! You’re welcome to complete this process on our website, oakridgeschools.org in the convenience and comfort of your own home at your own schedule and pace. If you’d like assistance, our staff is also available in each school building to help you from August 13th to the first day of school during normal daytime business hours. We will also have staff ready to assist you during convenient evening hours from
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Oakridge High School Library on these dates:
Wednesday August 7th, Monday August 12th, Thursday August 15th, and Monday, August 19th
A: You’ll know that you’ve finished the registration process when the message screen comes up to save and sign out of the program. You would then need to click your initials at the top right hand corner of the screen and click “save and sign out”. You may also call your school building at any time if you’re still unsure.
A: The answer depends on your child’s grade level. For elementary, letters with classroom/teacher assignments should be in your mailbox during the week of August 19th. If you do not receive a mailing, please call your child’s school office on Monday, August 26th to finalize enrollment. If your child is a middle or high school student, information on class assignments can be received during orientation, if your student is fully registered prior.
A: We are launching an all-new busing application this year with many useful features for parents. The system is nearly ready and will be unveiled before the first day of school. Student routes and assignments are actively being transferred from the old system to the new one daily as parents and students register for school. We ask for your patience as we work to perfect this system prior to rolling it out to parents.
A: Oakridge Public Schools will provide your elementary school child with all the tools he/she needs to be successful. However, some students like to have their own items, which you are welcome to provide. Middle and high school students will receive lists from their teachers for each class on the first few days of school. Listed below are items most students will likely use at some point throughout the year.
Middle/High: Tuesday, August 27 5:00pm – 6:30pm
A: Middle and High School:
Please return required paperwork (will be mailed out on August 12th & 13th) to Kickstart. You will also get your schedules and locker assignments, photos taken, student ID, busing information, and pick up their Chromebooks! PLEASE BE SURE YOU COMPLETE YOUR ONLINE RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION PRIOR TO KICKSTART! (Dates below)
Thursday, August 22nd – 9:00am to noon, 1:30pm to 3:30 and 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Friday, August 23rd – 9:00am to noon and 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
High School Freshmen:
Your orientation is Friday, August 23rd from 10:00am to 1:30pm. You’ll be welcomed to high school by our Link Crew team, who will help you transition from Middle School to High School life.
