Letter to Elementary Parents – Half Day “Fun Lunch”

This letter was sent home to parents of elementary students on Monday, March 26, 2018.

To The Parents/Guardians of Oakridge Elementary Students:

As you all know, we are now offering a bagged “fun lunch” on half days for elementary students. This is a new program and, of course, we had a bit of confusion with our first try! Our intent is to offer lunch to those students who want to eat before being dismissed for the day. Unfortunately, the sign-up sheet that was sent home just added to the confusion of parents, teachers and students. It was meant to help us prepare and have some idea of how many lunches to make. However, many students went without because the slip was not returned or lost. We don’t want that to happen again!

Half day lunches will continue from now on. Teachers will take a “hand count” in their classroom of the students wanting the fun lunch. Food service staff will then use that roster for meal deliveries and counts. If you don’t want your child to eat the school lunch, please discuss this with them beforehand so they don’t raise their hand! If you normally send lunch from home, continue to do so on half days.

Please bear with us while we try to perfect this new program. We simply want to make sure that all students wanting and/or needing a lunch receives one. Thank you for your help with this!
