Oakridge Public Schools is pleased to announce that student-athlete, Alex Shoop, has officially signed his letter of intent to attend and play football for Ave Maria University located in southwest Florida.
Alex has been an outstanding athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track and field while he has attended Oakridge High School. Additionally, a model student carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.97.
“As Alex’s teacher and football coach, I could not be prouder of him today. It’s an honor to stand with him as he makes his commitment to the next phase of his academic and athletic career. He’s a great example and a great young man.” , said Cary Harger. Harger has served as the Varsity Football Coach at Oakridge Public Schools for the past seven years. The Eagles (9-3) were Region 2 District 1 Champions this past season. Their final game was a loss in the Region 2 Championship game to the Vikings of Saginaw Swan Valley High School. Alex received postseason team awards, All Conference, All Area, and Dream Team selections. He was also A.P. All State Honorable Mention.
Principal Jason McVoy adds, “It’s always a great day to celebrate student athletes that sign their letters of intent. We have enjoyed sharing in Alex’s success as an Oakridge Eagle, and we know that he will carry on to do great things at Ave Maria University.”
