OLE Students Ride to School in Style

Lower Elementary students in Mrs. Woods health classes learn the importance of fire safety each year as part of the Health curriculum. This year Mrs. Woods was able to partner with the Egelston Fire Department to have a Fire Fighter for a Day contest.

To be eligible, families had to draw a fire escape plan and discuss with their children how to best exit the house in an emergency. Since we had over 300 families participate, the Fire Department chose one student from each grade level to take part in this exciting experience.

Students were picked up from their house, given an Egelston Fire Department shirt with their name on it and brought to school. They then had a firefighter come back to school and eat lunch with them.

Seeing the students arrive to school with the lights and sirens on was very exciting for all!
