2020 Graduation & Prom Update

2020 Graduation & Prom Updates

Greetings Class of 2020 and families,

I have final details and am able to update you on our upcoming Graduation Commencement Ceremony and 2020 Prom.

As you probably are aware, due to Covid-19, we are under the current executive order for gatherings & events as published by the governor:

Rules on Gatherings, Performances, and Events

  • A social gathering or organized event among persons not part of the same household is permitted, but only to the extent that:
  • Persons not part of the same household maintain six feet of distance from one another.
  • If it is indoors, the gathering or event does not exceed 50 people.
  • If it is outdoors, the gathering or event does not exceed 100 people.

However, we are pleased to announce that due to the size of our football stadium and seating capacity, we have submitted a plan to the Muskegon County Health Department and it has been approved for up to 400 guests at our outdoor graduation on Sunday, July 26th at 7:00pm.  Social distancing between families and masks will be required.  Having approximately 100 RSVP’s to participate; each graduate will be allowed up to 4 guests to attend the ceremony.  The ceremony will also be recorded and streamed live over social media.  All students will be expected to attend the graduation practice which will take place on Friday, July 24th @ 10:00am.

Unfortunately, due to social distancing being required (and not possible at a dance) we will not be able to hold a Prom this year.  However, all 2020 seniors will be allowed to attend the 2021 Spring Prom.

Finally, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility in the planning of these events.  We are committed to providing the best possible ceremony that we can give to this class, because they certainly deserve it!

Sincerely,

Jason McVoy
