Our School

Class of 2020 Graduation

Hello Class of 2020!  We hope this finds you all doing well and excited for the Graduation Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, July 26th.  First, we need to know if you will be participating in the ceremony.  A google form was sent to your school email on June 18.  If you have not responded yet, please call the office @ 231-788-7300 no later than Friday, July 17.

Participation is voluntary and the rules are few; but important, and must be followed.  Remember, this is a program of dignity and it is a community function. Our goal is to honor and recognize the Class of 2020 in a “first-class” manner even though this year is a little out of the ordinary.  Let’s make this the best one ever!

    • Practice will be held on Friday, July 24 at 10:00 am.
      • We will meet in the high school cafeteria (please be on time).
      • Wear comfy clothes, you do not need to wear your cap & gown.
      • A mask will be required while indoors, but can be removed once we head out to the field.
      • Caps may be decorated, but must be approved at practice (top of cap only).
      • Honor Cords, Medals, Top 10 tassels and NHS collars will be handed out at practice.
    • Ceremony – Sunday, July 26 @ 7:00 pm
      • The ceremony will be held on the Oakridge football field (Russell A. Erickson Stadium).
      • All seniors need to be at the school by 5:30 pm.  We will meet in the cafeteria for a final run-through.
      • We will practice social distancing.
      • The number of guests allowed will be determined by the current executive order and will be announced closer to the ceremony date.
      • Geskus Photography will be there to provide a professional photograph for each student.  We will also be doing a Top 10 photo.
    • Approved Attire
      • Girlswhite or light colored dress or school appropriate outfit (capris or white pants are allowed), light colored shoes (white, off white, beige, tan) slip-on (white) sneakers will be allowed due to being on the field – no flip flops.
      • Boys – dark pants (black, navy or grey – no shorts), collared shirt (tie is optional but recommended), dark colored shoes (black or brown) no work boots, flip flops, slides or colored sneakers * (all black or dark sneakers will be allowed)

  • Behavior/Expectations

    • Choosing to participate in graduation means that any selfish behavior (in which attention is drawn to oneself at the expense of others) will not be tolerated and may result in one’s removal from the ceremony.  Unacceptable behavior refers to shouting, throwing or kicking objects, possession of noisemakers or any illegal or explosive material which may endanger other persons.
    • Please do not chew gum or candy.
    • All fines must be paid by Friday, July 17 (statements will be mailed home).

We look forward to seeing you soon.  Feel free to call the office if you have any questions: (231) 788-7300.
