Friday, January 11, 2019
We are excited to offer a new program with Middle School students to encourage safe and positive behavior. Today at school we launched the Ride with Pride program, which is a collaborative effort between the Muskegon County Sheriff, Oakridge Middle School, Muskegon Alcohol Liability Initiative, and Emergency Services.
The Ride with Pride program provides prizes to a student who has met the OMS and Muskegon County Sheriff requirements as outlined in the Positive Behavior Pledge. The Ride with Pride pledge encourages students to abstain from alcohol and drugs, follow the school’s Positive Behavior Matrix, maintain enrollment, and have no negative school or police contacts of any type.
The end of the year event (held in the spring) is designed to reward the student body for their efforts in changing their behavior in a positive manner. This event will be a community effort and recognize all stakeholders who made the year a success. Several finalists will be selected for prizes from generous donations made by community and business leaders. One prize we are working on is FREE driver’s training courses!
It is our hope that you will encourage your student(s) to keep their pledge promise throughout the rest of the school year. If you have any questions you may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
