The students that qualified for the ice cream party by reading 150,000 words or more during the month of February, have been posted outside the office. Also, students should of received an ice cream party ticket from their first hour teacher on Monday. The ice cream party will be held tomorrow, March 23, during 6th hour. Congrats!

Just a reminder to all students who are interested in running track – practice starts next Monday (3/27) at 3:15pm in the middle school gym. You need to have a physical on file in order to participate. Stop in the office and pick up a physical form if you need one. Please see Ms. Dutton or Mr. Holmberg if you have any questions.

The candy sale ends this Friday and all monies should be turned in by then. The candy sale charts that are posted on the bulletin board right outside the old office have been updated again. So far, $22,716.80 has been turned in. Here are the newest top four selling classrooms at this point in time:
First Place – Mr. Burr’s room – $2,780.35
Second Place – Ms. Dutton’s room – $2,591.90
Third Place – Mr. Rieger’s room – $2,218.90
Fourth Place – Ms. Cooper’s room – $2,182.00
Please keep in mind that all monies that have been turned in are not yet tallied in the totals. Students, keep turning in your candy money to your first hour teacher as the top selling classroom will receive a pizza party. The competition continues until this Friday, March 24th, so make sure you have your money turned in by then.

Detention will be held today at 2:55pm in Room #2 with Mr. Bassett.

The middle school weight room is Monday and Thursday each week through the end of the school year. The times will remain the same.

Seventh and eighth grade Junior Elite Softball tryouts will be held this Sunday, March 26th in the middle school gym from 7:00 – 8:30pm. There is a sign-up sheet in the office.

Congratulations to the middle school choir. They received a First Division #1 – Superior Rating at the festival on Friday.

We have 2 new MULTI-MILLIONAIRES in our building. Congrats to Stephanie Mueller and Delaney Lindh. We have 4 new MILLIONAIRES. Congrats to Tyler Seegert, Sara Aldering, Soley Seewald, Nevaeh Eklund. New Millionaires, please stop by Mrs. Coletta’s classroom today to pick up your millionaire t-shirt. Make sure to congratulate our new Millionaires and Multi-millionaires today when you see them.

Today is recycling day. The following students have signed up to take care of the recycling during their lunch hour.

2nd Lunch: Hailey Gallegos, Alivia Harger, Stephanie Mueller.
Teachers, please make sure to place your recycling bins in the hall before you go to lunch.

AAU Travel Volleyball sign- ups are this Sunday March 19th at the high school gym. This is for 14U, 16U and 18U teams. Please pick up a flyer in the middle school office if you are interested.

Teens United would like to add a little St. Patrick’s Day cheer to your day! Sometime today, a little leprechaun will be hiding 8 shamrocks to some lucky students. Check your lockers and the bottoms of your plates at lunch. If you find a green shamrock, bring it to the office for a prize!

Teens United would also like to share some St. Patrick’s Day Riddles.
You are invited to take a scrap piece of paper and write their name on it along with the answers to the riddles and turn it in to the office between classes. At the end of the day, we will have a drawing. The first paper we draw with all correct answers will win a prize!

Last night the 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Shelby for the semi-finals and finals of the WMC tournament. The lady Eagles defeated Whitehall in the semi-finals 25 – 22 and 25 -13 and moved on to play a very tough Ravenna team. The lady Eagles once again played their hearts out. As a team they served over 90%, had more digs and defensive plays then our statistician could count, and ran a flawless offense by pounding the volleyballs at the Dawgs to secure a CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP! The lady Eagles beat the Bulldogs 25-22 and 25-15.
Congratulations to the team: Emma Blackburn, Emma Fri, Riann Fri, Alivia Harger, Leah Lowry, Stephanie Mueller, Jayde Norton, Hayden Ruel, Jillian Rusco, Soley Seewald, Madison Smith, Kyla Stewart, Jenna Stovall, McKenzie Swarts, Kaitlyn Weaver, Monica Whipple, and Audrey Wildig. We had a great season and you girls are a great team!

The 7th grade volleyball season came to end last night with their playoff loss to Montague. Game scores were 15-25 and 23-25.
Serving points for the Eagles were:
Delaney Ruel and Saidee Raap each with 6 points
Brianna Benson with 4 points
Brooklyn Cooper, Saidee, Delaney, Emaleigh Bitson, and Brianna had some great offense going with set ups and spikes. Defensively Jasmine Pastor had great passing from the back row and covered the court well and Paige Primmer and Saidee each guarded the net well with their blocking. This was a true team effort on and off the court. You all played your hearts out and battled back after the loss in the first game and made Montague work till the very last point, never giving up. Coach Dutton is so proud of your improvement throughout the season!! Uniforms need to be washed and turned in and any girl that still owes money for their t-shirt please get it to Coach Dutton ASAP.

The 8th grade volleyball defeated Montague in the 1st round of tournament play yesterday with scores of 25-23 and 25-18. The lady eagles had a season high serving percentage of 91%. Their defense was unbreakable with the ladies digging attacks and tips all night. The 8th graders played a mistake free offense that kept the momentum on their side the whole night. After the game,Coach Rieger was talking to Montague’s varsity coach and he complimented the ladies on their great play, their hustle, and determination to stay focused during the competition. Great job ladies! Practice today from 3:00 – 5:15pm.

We will be having locker clean out tomorrow morning. Please make sure you return any overdue library books and clean your locker thoroughly.

The girls’ volleyball teams travel to Montague to begin play in the West MI Conference Tournament. The 7th grade team will begin play at 4:00pm and the 8th grade team will begin play at 5:15pm. All players will be released at 2:25pm to board the bus. Good luck to both teams.

All classrooms will be attending the Footloose presentation this morning from 8:15 through the end of second hour.

Today is the last day to return any unsold candy. After today, only money can be turned in. We will be updating classroom sales today and should have a list of top selling rooms on Monday.

Today is Crime Prevention Day at the middle school. The seventh grade class will be reporting to the auditorium during fifth hour and the eighth grade class will be reporting to the auditorium during sixth hour to hear presentations from various speakers.

Good job to the 7th grade volleyball team on your split against North Muskegon last night. Scores were:
16-21, 21-15, 14-21, and 21-12.
High point servers were:

Saidee Raap with 7 points
Jasmine Pastor with 5 points
In addition to serving for points, the following girls had over 75% serving:
EmaLeigh Bitson, Brooklyn Cooper, Jacelyn Leiter, Maddi Wilcox, and Lexy Wright.

Congratulations to the 8th grade volleyball team and their awesome play last night.
The lady eagles were moving to the ball, digging attacks from North Muskegon, and serving well. Emma Fri, Emma Blackburn, Leah Lowry, Hayden Ruel, Soley Seewald, Jayde Norton, Riann Fri, and Madison Smith all had successful attacks last night.
Alivia Harger, Jenna Stovell, Jillian Rusco, and several other girls served so well that North Muskegon had trouble setting up their offense. Audrey Wildig, Stephanie Mueller, Monica Whipple, Kaitlyn Weaver, and Mckenzie Swarts played some good defense so the Norseman could not get their offense running. Great Job to all the players! Coaches Birdsell and Rieger are very proud on how well you played last night!

Congratulations to all the students who made the honor roll for the second marking period. Today you will be receiving a reward for working hard to earn this accomplishment. All students will report to their sixth hour class for attendance and then your teacher will dismiss all honor roll students to the gym. Here the students will receive a snack of chips and a drink and will have the privilege of an Open Gym for all of sixth hour. Good job to all the students who made the honor roll the second marking period.

Good job to the 7th grade volleyball team on last night’s split with MCC. Scores were: 22-20, 21-9, 14-21, and 20-22.
High point scorers were:
Paige Primmer with 9 points
Delaney Ruel and Saidee Raap with 6 points each
Jasmine Pastor and Ali Ehnen with 5 points each
Also contributing to our serving were:
Brianna Benson, Brooklyn Cooper, Jacelyn Leiter, Ashlyn Smith, and Maddi Wilcox all served with 75% or better accuracy.
On offense Delaney Ruel and Saidee Raap had multiple set ups and Brianna, Brooklyn, Jacelyn, Jasmine, Paige, and Ashlyn each had at least 1 spike.

The 8th grade girls volleyball team defeated MCC last night with a combination of great serving and offense. In the first 2 set the girls had only 3 missed serves and defeated the Spartans 21-3 and 21 – 14. Hayden Ruel had another 10 serve game, her 2nd of the season. The girls lost a little steam in the 3rd set losing 13-21, but came back strong in the 4th set winning 21-16. Congratulations ladies.

Geskus Photography will be here today (3/1) to take pictures of the volleyball teams. You should of received a picture form from your coach. Forms will also be available in the office.

Today is another Teens United Day. They will be having a meeting today (3/1) during the lunch hours.
