Weekly Email from Mrs. Cantu (April 27)

Dear OUE Family:

Spring has FINALLY Sprung! Better late than never of course. We continue to have chilly mornings and the weather warms throughout the day. Please remind your kiddos to dress in layers and appropriately.

Thursday was National Bring Your Child to Work Day. Many of our OUE staff members couldn’t wait to share their own kiddos with the rest of our kids. Our OUE kids were so wonderful and welcoming to our children.

As many of you are aware, we have begun a new approach to our mandatory Lock Down drills. Our OUE staff has been through the ALICE training and are now prepared to guide your students through more scenario-based drills. Today was our first Lock Down drill since this training. All of our teachers have been talking to their students about the different procedures based on different situations. These are not meant to be scary, but rather thoughtful. Another, more in-depth communication, will be coming from the district with more specifics. However, today’s Scenario-Based Lock Down was very successful! Our staff and students did a wonderful job! I encourage you to talk to your children about how the drill went, and what they learned from it. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and the staff if you have any questions.

Enjoy your weekend!
