Thursday, March 25, 2021
We’ve made it! Last night, the Oakridge School Board unanimously approved returning all secondary students (grades 7-12) to full-time in-person learning beginning on Monday, March 29 unless the parent previously opted their child to participate in the Oakridge Online Learning Academy (OOLA) for the second semester. That means all students K-12 who chose ‘in-person’ learning for the second semester will be attending school every weekday moving forward. School calendars have been updated and posted to our website here.
At this time, all employees who opted to be vaccinated in the first phase have received two doses and at least two weeks have passed to be considered fully vaccinated.
Despite the recent uptick in positive cases in Muskegon County, transmission has not occurred in our buildings at Oakridge recently. We have had close contacts and we will likely continue to learn of more close contacts. Such individuals have been extraordinarily cooperative in following quarantine protocols. We will continue to expect students to bring their district-provided digital devices home daily so we are prepared for any potentially necessary transition for remote learning.
We just participated in a meeting with health professionals from Mercy Health Hospital and Public Health Muskegon County, and we have been advised to remain vigilant with our health mitigation strategies of masking, surface cleaning, disinfecting, and washing hands. Social distancing to the extent possible is also advised.
