Our secretaries will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Your grace and understanding are requested as we serve you.

Purpose

The purpose of OOLA is to provide an option for parents to educate their children during the Pandemic.  If the following attributes apply to you or your children, OOLA may be a good fit for you:

  1. Parents may prefer the online learning experience for their children.
  2. Parents may feel their children will be safer or healthier at home versus attending school in person.
  3. Parents may prefer a more predictable schedule that is consistent each day of the week for an entire semester.
  4. Parents may be able to provide a conducive environment at home conducive to learning online.

Overview

  1. OOLA is a 100% virtual program provided 5 days per week for Oakridge students.
  2. OOLA is facilitated by a Michigan certified teacher.  One teacher will facilitate learning for all classes a student takes, including MS and HS students. Oakridge has decided to purchase and implement Edgenuity for grades 6-12 and Accelerate Education to facilitate online learning.
  3. OOLA sign-up commitments for a student are for one entire semester with the option to change to another learning model for the second semester.
  4. All children from a family are not required to be in OOLA.  A parent can choose OOLA for one child and not another child.
  5. OOLA students are allowed access to the Oakridge Teen Health Center for medical, dental, and behavioral health services
  6. OOLA students will receive outreach from our Oakridge Wellness Network services including school counselors, interventionists, or school community partners.
  7. OOLA students will continue to have access to school-provided FREE meals.  Information will be provided closer to the beginning of the school year.
  8. OOLA students with an IEP will be provided special education services.   Oakridge will convene a new IEPC to determine how OOLA students will receive programs and services while participating in a virtual environment.
  9. OOLA students may participate in extra-curricular activities IF they are operating.
  10. OOLA students will be provided a technology device and a WiFi hotspot if needed.
  11. OOLA students that are seniors may walk at the Oakridge graduation ceremony IF all graduation requirements are met.
  12. OOLA students and parents are required to have routine 2-way communication with their assigned OOLA teacher.
