Superintendent Tom Livezey - 2025-26 Board President of Michigan Association of Superintendents

MUSKEGON, Mich. – The Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators (MASA) is proud to announce that Oakridge Public Schools Superintendent Tom Livezey will serve as the Association’s 2025-26 Board President. Livezey was officially presented with the President’s gavel by MASA Executive Director Dr. Tina Kerr and Past President Katy Xenakis Makowski, Superintendent of Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools, during a brief ceremony at Wednesday’s Oakridge Board of Education meeting.

With more than 30 years of service to public education, Livezey brings extensive leadership experience and a lifelong commitment to community-centered education to his role as MASA President. He is entering his 17th year as Oakridge Superintendent and his 22nd year overall in the district, having also previously served as Assistant Superintendent and Curriculum Director. Livezey started his career in education as an elementary teacher in Godwin Heights Public Schools and later became the district’s Instruction and Technology Specialist.

As the first college graduate in his extended family, Livezey deeply understands the transformative power of education and is committed to ensuring students have a well-rounded experience that balances academics with extracurricular opportunities. Growing up in the close-knit community of Vicksburg, he was encouraged by educators and coaches to pursue both his academic and athletic potential beyond high school, earning a scholarship to Olivet Nazarene University, where he graduated with academic and athletic All-American honors. Livezey later earned his master’s degree in educational administration from Michigan State University – experiences that have shaped his belief in the life-changing impact of strong schools and strong communities.

“I know firsthand how the right opportunities and the right people can open doors that change a student’s life,” Livezey said. “As MASA Board President, I want to help ensure every district leader feels supported and equipped to create those opportunities – for both the students they serve and the educators who inspire them every day. I'm humbled and privileged for this opportunity and experience and look forward to working alongside my colleagues to help strengthen public education across Michigan.”

Beyond his work in education, Livezey is passionate about fitness and travel. He has competed in numerous fitness events, participated in a mission trip to an Albanian orphanage, trekked the Andes Mountains in Peru with his wife, and recently fulfilled a family bucket-list trip to Iceland.

“Tom’s deep understanding of the vital role community plays in education, coupled with his unwavering dedication to student success, makes him an outstanding choice to lead the MASA Board and help advance the organization’s mission,” said MASA Executive Director Dr. Tina Kerr. “I’ve been fortunate to work with him in different roles over the years, and he’s always full of ideas and insight. I’m excited to see the perspective and energy he’ll bring as President.” MASA represents more than 600 school district leaders across Michigan, offering leadership development, legislative advocacy, and professional networking opportunities to support members in becoming world-class leaders for the school communities they serve.
