$1 Million - Safe Routes to Schools Grant

Wouldn’t it be awesome to win over $1 million to install sidewalks in the Oakridge community?  Imagine having a safer and more walkable community.  Well, we’re gathering people together to explore this very opportunity!  On Tuesday, October 3, Oakridge Public Schools will be hosting representatives from Michigan State University, Muskegon County Road Commission, and Egelston Township to conduct a “walking audit” and community forum in preparation to apply for a Safe Routes to Schools Grant.  A select group of students, staff, and parents have been invited to join the above representatives to conduct the walking audit around our schools.  But, the general public is invited to join us when we host the Community Forum at 4:30 - 6pm in the boardroom of the Oakridge Administration Building.

The Community Forum agenda will include:

  • Overview of the Safe Routes to School Grant
  • Review potential sidewalk project scope/timeline
  • Solicit community input
  • What is working well?
  • What is not working well?
  • How could we improve pedestrian safety
  • Discuss next steps

Please consider joining the Safe Routes to School Community Forum
When:

  • Tuesday, October 3 @ 4:30 - 6pm

Where:

  • Oakridge Administration Building - Boardroom
  • 275 South Wolf Lake Road, Muskegon, Michigan, 49442

Special thanks and appreciation to the Egelston Township Board who recently unanimously approved serving as the fiduciary for this grant project.  Oakridge Public Schools truly appreciate all the partners coming together to improve our community.
